Pilot attempted to extend a cross country flight with the result that he had limited landing options. Landed in the rotor behind a tor, and was also blinded by the low sun.

Possible Fr ribs, aggravated previous HG head injury, minor bruises.

PHG pilot spotted a 2 ft diameter parachute floating down 30ft away from him during a cross country flight. A long tube was attached to the parachute, which the pilot believes was from a model rocket.

Pilot shortened the lines attached to the speed bar, this caused the speedbar to be applied during weight shift turns as the extra weight on the front of the harness seat would press on the speed bar.

Student pulled the bar in during take - off run but then didnt allow the glider to return to trim during flight. She continued to fly too fast and failed to round out during landing approach, this resulted in a heavy landing.

Winded and bruised.
